Community
Lake Local Schools serve multiple communities. We need to engage our community leaders, businesses, and local governments to work toward a common goal: The future success and stability of our children. With proactive involvement of these resources, we can keep Lake the great district it has always been.
Commitment
I believe board members should be fully committed to the support and empowerment of our school district. We must prioritize the needs of every student by ensuring our staff and teachers have the tools and resources to educate and prepare them for life.
Building Strong Foundations for Success
Not every student will go to college. Therefore, our goal should be that every child to graduate from Lake Local Schools be well prepared for life. We must provide and build a strong foundation for each child to be successful in their future endeavors, whether that includes college studies or trades.
Empowering Every Student
Every child is different. Learning, growing, and maturing with access to appropriate resources at school will give them the confidence and empowerment to be and do anything they can dream. Isn't that what we all want for our children? To be able to live and fulfill their dreams.
Financial Responsibility
As tax payers we should all be aware of where funds come from and how exactly they are spent. As a board, we owe the community financial transparency and accountability, without depriving the students of necessary extracurricular access that is so important in development. This includes communicating detailed expenditures to assure the public the funds are spent prudently.
Supporting our Teachers
Teacher and staff support is paramount for a strong school district. As a board, we must encourage our staff through positive engagement and hands on interaction. Our educators are teaching future generations and deserve the support of the citizens.
Why I am Running
My name is Caitlin Spano, and I am running for Lake Local School Board of Education. Our children deserve a school board and system that puts them first. As a mom, step-mom, and bonus mom to 5 amazing children, my priority is to ensure my kids are healthy, educated, and well prepared for life as adults. Our schools should provide a safe environment where our children are given the support, encouragement, and resources to prepare them for college, the work force, and adulthood. Children need to learn how to think independently, not just what to think.
I value the education and experiences our children receive, as my own children attend and participate in numerous activities and sports in the community. Our family attends Rivertree Lake Church. I have been the treasurer on the Lake Elementary PTO for the last year. My husband, Vito, is on the Lake Youth Football and Lake Youth Baseball board. We are fully committed to this community and the people in it. As a family, we want to ensure our community supports our children and yours in whatever capacity it can. A community is nothing without the support of the people.

​I grew up in the small town of Suffield, Ohio right next door to Lake and understand the impact a school can have on a community. I have a bachelor’s degree from Kent State University in Education. I am a business owner of VCS Construction Services, a certified WBE. I have 12 years experience in accounting, which gives me ample experience in finance and running a business. Although our school system serves the children of our community, it is still a business and needs to be run efficiently. I believe my education, experience, and love of Lake makes me the best candidate to serve you and your children.
